According to Clay Henry, "I was fighting for control of
my life. I livedlike many severely overweight people do. I was a homebody,
embarrassed by myappearance and had no self-confidence. One day I had enough. I
didn't wantto spend the rest of my life with chocolate in my mouth and my hand
in thecookie jar, so I decided to join the local fire department and try to get
inshape."
Clay knew that at 330 pounds, he didn't have much of a
chance of being hiredas a firefighter and realized that he was going to have to
make somechanges.
"When Jared's story came out, I thought that it was cool
to see a guy my agewho was winning the same battle I was fighting against
obesity. His messagehelped motivate me and reinforced the fact that I had to
make a change forthe better," adds Clay.
"My life has changed enormously. I used to
feel that I was always destinedto be 'the fat kid'. Losing weight is really
based on good common sense whenit comes to eating habits. You have to eat a
low-fat balanced diet andexercise and it's really worth the sacrifices and hard
work," says Clay.
