"Jared Inspired Me"
|
|
Jared's New
Friends have
all become
healthier by
making
better food
choices and
becoming
more
physically
active. They
have
maintained a
healthier
weight by
making
healthier
food choices
and by
staying as
active as
they can
through
everyday
activities,
like riding
their
bicycles,
walking,
swimming,
jumping
rope,
skating or
playing
sports with
friends. Here is
Isaac's story: |

Isaac
"Ike"
Villarreal,
11
Texas
In
July
2003,
Ike
tried
to
enroll
in a
youth
football
league
but
was
over
the
weight
limit.
He
decided
then
to
start
on a
low-fat
diet
and
to
exercise
regularly.
In
September
2003,
Ike
was
within
the
allowable
weight
to
play
football.
Ike
achieved
a
healthier
weight
by
making
better
food
choices
and
becoming
more
physically
active.
Ike's
favorite
activities
are
football,
basketball,
tennis,
running/track
and
swimming.
He
especially
enjoys
fishing
with
his
grandmother.
His
favorite
SUBWAY®
submarine
sandwich
is
turkey
on
wheat
bread
with
lettuce.
What
does
having
a
healthier
lifestyle
mean?
"It
means
I'm
able
to
play
the
sports
I
like
and
never
thought
I
could
play.
Now
I
have
more
energy
and
am
playing
outside
with
my
friends
more
instead
of
sitting
inside
and
playing
games
on
my
TV."

"Playing
football
with
friends
is
one
of
Ike's
greatest
joys,"
says
Ike's
mom
Sonja."
He
is
more
energetic
now.
Ike
is
an
inspiration
to
many
people
who
would
like
to
have
his
motivation
and
enthusiasm.
I
hope
the
people
seeing
Ike's
commercials
see
the
positive
of
his
success
and
perhaps
see
a
way
of
helping
their
children
who
might
have
the
same
weight
problem."
